What helps when reporting a problem
- The app version from the bottom of the Settings screen
- Your iPhone model and iOS version
- What you did, what you expected, and what happened instead
- A screenshot, if the numbers in it are not ones you mind sharing
Please do not send a backup file unless asked: it contains your complete financial picture and is rarely needed to reproduce a problem.
Common questions
A total says it is incomplete.
One or more positions have no exchange rate for that date. Open the rates screen to retry the download, or enter the rate by hand — a manual rate always takes priority and stays marked as manual.
I lost my data.
Nothing is stored outside your device, so recovery is only possible from a backup file you exported or from an iPhone backup. Exporting a backup takes a few seconds and is worth doing regularly.
Can I move my data to a new iPhone?
Yes — export a backup file on the old device and restore it on the new one. Restoring validates the whole file first and then replaces the current data in one step.
Where are transactions, budgets or bank connections?
They do not exist, by design. Capventory records what each position is worth on a date; it never tries to explain what moved.
